It's time once again to change the front page ISP Review poll, which this week asks: "What's a fair data limit for a £20 512Kbps service?". Results from the previous survey can be found below:
What would you like most from 3G data services?
Cheaper access - 62.3%
Better coverage - 15.5%
Faster access - 11.5%
Better phones - 9.1%
Better support - 1.4%
Do you own a 3G phone?
No - 87.1%
Yes - 12.8%
Total Votes = 406
No surprise seeing cheaper access at the top, third generation technology is notorious for its excessive "data" pricing and that's clearly a problem for the ordinary consumer.
However we were expecting better phones to come a place higher than faster access, much the same with support quality. Both have been well publicised complaints.
Typically just 13% of respondents actually owned such a phone, although that figure is quite high in itself and most likely specific to the nature of ISP Reviews readership. Clearly data access will need to get cheaper before the real adoption starts (sound familiar?).
