LTT broadband hits Surrey and East Sussex

Residents in Surrey and East Sussex will get their first taste of broadband when LTT introduces a wireless service in Hartfield and Buxted on the 9th February and South Godstone on the 18th February.

Connections up to 2Mbps, with a symmetric service, will be available and LTT is confident that businesses in particular will benefit from the high quality of service over the radio link provided by the company.

The radio broadband service does not need a telephone line, and can be deployed more or less anywhere., Called ARTEMIS, the system was originally developed by LTT to provide quickly deployable and secure broadband capacity for the United Nations staff working in war zones.

Using 100milliwatt broadcasting power, equivalent to the radio LAN’s used in many offices and homes, LTT has developed software and hardware to such a degree that they can receive a signal up to 25 km from the original aerial without having to increase the power of the transmitter. This enables signals to be bounced from place to place, and potentially brings even the most remote site into range of a signal.

Up to 96 users can be connected to each base station, and due to the sophisticated technology, all can be online at the same time without loss of service level to any one user.

LTT is providing a value connection for residential sites, equivalent to ADSL. The main offering is a symmetric service, where the speed up to the Internet is the same as the speed down to the customer. This is ideal for businesses that have large amounts of data to transfer such as printers or graphic designers.
