NTL Tops 1Million Broadband Users!

The UKs largest cable operator, NTL, has officially passed the one million broadband users milestone, making it the first ISP to do so. In celebration NTL is offering new customers a free installation, one months free surfing and three months free access to its content service:

ntl Incorporated (NASDAQ: NTLI), the UKs leading broadband services provider, today announced that over one million UK homes are enjoying the benefits of its high quality broadband internet services.
The company announced that it had become the first UK ISP to reach this milestone, at the FT New Media & Broadcasting Conference today in London.
Commenting on the news, Simon Duffy said: ntl continues to be the driving force behind the growth of broadband in the UK. We are proud to be the first ISP to have over one million homes connected to broadband and believe that the quality of our service sets the standard in the UK. We have rapidly become the European standard bearer for broadband cable.
Broadband has fast become the access method of choice amongst internet users at home and ntl believes that it is set to become the dominant mode of internet access amongst all UK home users during 2006. This will be achieved by offering consumers a choice of access services, great value pricing and increasing the amount of broadband-focused content and services available.
Stephen Timms, UK E-commerce Minister said: I am delighted to hear that ntls broadband provision continues at pace. We have set a challenging target to have 100% broadband availability in the UK by 2005 and announcements such as today are significant steps in making that happen.
Broadband services bring key educational, social and business advantages to communities and the Government is working with the service providers to make sure no-one misses out. ntl is to be congratulated on reaching their one millionth broadband internet customer and I look forward to even more announcements reflecting the increasing growth and use of broadband in Britain.
To celebrate reaching this milestone and to start the push towards ntls second million, the company has launched its One in a Million campaign offering new customers free installation, one months free high speed surfing and three months free access to its award-winning premium content service, Broadband Plus.
I suppose we could highlight how the majority of people dont consider NTLs 150Kbps service, which accounts for a significant percentage of the total, to be broadband. Well, consider it highlighted.
