ISP AOL UK has today followed the official introduction of BTWholesales new residential 1Mbps ADSL service by introducing their own package for £34.99 per month:
AOL launches 1Mb DSL broadband service in the UK
AOL today launched a 1Mb DSL broadband service in the UK, giving members a connection up to twice as fast as standard ADSL services and up to 20 times faster than a dial-up connection. The service, which has been trialled by a number of AOL Broadband members over the past two months, costs £34.99 a month.
AOL Broadband 1Mb is aimed at advanced Internet users, enabling them to view and download files at even faster speeds - ideal for streaming content and downloading or sending photos, music, pictures and other large files. AOL will cover the charge that BT makes for members upgrading from the 512Kb broadband service to 1Mb, if they sign up for a further 12 month contract.
David Carr, AOL UKs Vice President of Broadband, said: As the clear market leader in broadband content services, the launch of 1Mb means we are now offering the widest broadband portfolio in the UK as well as the most extensive availability.
We are committed to being at the forefront of developments in the broadband marketplace and our 1Mb trial has shown that there is real demand for this service among our member base. We will be developing further content and product features for faster broadband services in the long term.
AOL UK will be running an outdoor, press and online advertising campaign with the strapline Fast just got faster in support of the launch of the AOL Broadband 1Mb service. The campaign is the first activity undertaken by AOL UKs newly-appointed creative agency, Grey London. The 1Mb service will also be promoted on various areas of the AOL service including AOL Keyword: 1Mb Broadband and at
