The UK broadband satellite ISP SatDrive has announced a merger with the new TEUS European sales operation EuroSkynet (skyDSL). Unfortunately they neglected to tell their customers until the change itself had occurred!:
ANNOUNCEMENT
SatDrive Ltd, in agreement with its technology Partner Teles EuroService GMBH, (TEUS) has decided to merge its business with the new TEUS European sales operation EuroSkynet
For all inquiries relating to one-way satellite broadband services and to learn about the new product offerings please follow this link http://www.euroskynet.com
You can still contact SatDrive by emailing sales@satdrive.com and we will be happy to answer any queries regarding these changes.Sadly the change has resulted in the offering of a more expensive package, leaving many customers angry and confused. One of their users, Ben, sent us his thoughts:
As a customer of SatDrive, I was shocked to find out this morning (with no prior information from the ISP!) that SatDrive is no more. They have completly merged with their European counterpart, skyDSL. The price packages have changed, indeed for the worse. What was currently £15 a month for unlimited downloading (no bandwidth limits, but with severe capping) is now 29.90 Euros - or, £19. There are two lesser packages, at 9.90 and 19.90 Euros respectively, with different options of bandwidth.
The Gear system appears to remain, where if you need more bandwidth, you pay by the megabyte (increasing per Gear). All of this information can be found at the new site, http://www.euroskynet.com.
I'm outraged because we received no prior warning that this was going to happen. No e-mail, no announcement, the customers were merely left to discover by themselves. The customer support at SatDrive has become increasingly non-existent, and the speeds are nothing short of appalling, but this is the last straw.Despite the surprise news, there were already 'hints' about such a move as far back as January -
