A new scheme by the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (BECTA) hopes to educate children on how to behave responsibly online and benefit from the Internet:
Dubbed the 'Internet Proficiency Scheme', it will include a teaching pack containing lesson ideas, pupil worksheets and certificates, and a new website. It will also provide information on mobile technologies such as SMS and MMS.
Education secretary Charles Clarke said: "The Internet is a powerful tool which gives children access to a wealth of information. The scheme will promote awareness amongst pupils, teachers and indeed parents, about a safe and responsible approach to the use of e-mail, internet and chat rooms."More @
