Following the threat of legal action by David Rickards, Managing Director of UK ISP Pipex, ISP Review would like to issue an apology for the following news item comment made a few days ago:
The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has finally announced the winners of its 2003 industry awards, although there was only one real surprise - Pipex.
They may have been innovative in price, yet the fact that their service spent almost half the year in dire trouble has been completely overlooked. Most visitors to ISP Review and numerous other sites and magazines will remember the problems that Pipex suffered for an unspecified period last year.
Despite this we do accept that the language used was too strong. We also accept that "
half the year" is a specific length of time spoken on a whim, yet the exact length that the problems lasted is unknown.
In the spirit of good faith we would like to apologise to Pipex for the remarks - SORRY. We have also completely removed said paragraph from the original news post.
In the meantime we've pointed Mr Rickards toward our archived
forum postings and
news items so that he may understand our comments to not be entirely without merit. There he should find a good deal of highlighted complaints spanning the period of several months during 2002.
Its nice to finally have a response from Pipex, although we do wish that they could have talked to us when the problems were first being reported.
