UK ISP Bulldog Communications is offering its broadband PrimeTime 1000 (1Mbps) ADSL service for just £19.99 per month (£23.49 inc. VAT). The move is clearly designed to undercut BTs forthcoming service, but is it sustainable?:
Bulldog Gives Consumers More Broadband Choice and Value With New Limited Time Offer
Bulldog Communications, the high-speed broadband specialist and alternative DSL broadband network operator serving both the UK residential and business markets, announced today an outstanding promotion on Bulldog's high-speed PrimeTime 1000 product. The limited time offer is designed to give consumers the opportunity to reduce their monthly and annual cost of broadband service. This PrimeTime 1000 promotion allows Bulldog customers to shave about £50 off the standard annual cost of the PrimeTime 1000 1 Mbps broadband service.
Bulldog's PrimeTime 1000 limited time promotion is available to new Bulldog customers and features a one-off connection charge of £69.99 (£82.24 inc. VAT) and monthly fees of £19.99 (£23.49 inc. VAT). This compares with the standard PrimeTime 1000 price plan of £49.99 (£58.74 inc. VAT) connection charge and monthly fees of £24.99 (£29.36 inc. VAT) - representing an overall annual saving of £46.94 (inc. VAT). Until the end of September, new Bulldog customers can also select the standard PrimeTime 1000 price plan and take advantage of Bulldog's free modem or half price connection offer announced earlier this month. (See http://www.bulldogdsl.com/special_offers.asp for more details on these promotions.)
The PrimeTime 1000 product has a unique time-of-day feature that sets it apart from other broadband products in the market. PrimeTime 1000 provides up to 1 Mbps downstream speed during the off-peak period: 6 pm to 8 am weekdays, all weekend and public holidays. During peak office hours of 8 am to 6 pm weekdays, the service provides up to the standard 512 kbps downstream speed. PrimeTime products work on a 50:1 contention ratio and offer between 256 and 400 kbps upstream bandwidth depending on the exchange accessed.
PrimeTime 1000 is available on Bulldog's extended network for high-speed residential services, reaching a total of 450 selected exchanges across Greater London, the South East, and major city centres including Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Cambridge. This expanding footprint covers approximately 500,000 businesses and over 8 million homes.
Richard Greco, CEO of Bulldog, stated: "Once again, Bulldog is pleased to offer consumers higher bandwidth services at lower prices. This PrimeTime 1000 special offer represents fantastic value for money and gives consumers another way to reduce their annual broadband costs. New customers to Bulldog can get up to twice the standard 512 kbps bandwidth offered elsewhere in the market and at a rock-bottom monthly fee. Bulldog has led the market in the delivery of highly competitive, 1 Mbps and higher speed residential services for almost a year."
The Bulldog PrimeTime 1000 price promotion is available from today until 30 September to new customers signing up to a 12 month contract. For more information on Bulldog's current promotions visit http://www.bulldogdsl.com, or call 0845 452 0052 (local rate).
