ISP and Telco Bulldog Communications has teamed up with Wi-Fi operator, MyZones, to offer a high-speed wireless home network. Customers will also gain free access to the UKs largest Wi-Fi network of community-based public access hotspots:
UK first Wi-Fi broadband service takes home networking & roaming to the masses
* Bundling great value broadband access, home networking and Wi-Fi roaming in one package
* Enabling neighbours and flat mates to share a broadband connection for the first time, reducing the monthly cost to as little as £5 per person
* New service powered by Bulldog, supplied and operated by MyZones
* Bulldog becomes the UKs first broadband provider to support Wi-Fi services for home users
Millions of consumers across the UK can at last take advantage of low cost home networking and broadband Internet access thanks to a ground-breaking new service powered by Bulldog Communications, the high-speed broadband specialist and alternative DSL broadband network operator, and operated by UK Wi-Fi leader, MyZones.
The new service will allow Bulldog customers to create a cost-effective, high-speed wireless home network, linking multiple devices from PCs to Playstations, and giving them free access to the UKs largest Wi-Fi network of community-based, public access hotspots.
Neighbours and flat mates will also be able to share access to a broadband line for the first time, for no extra cost. By sharing the cost of a standard Bulldog 1 Mbps connection with two neighbours, a home owner, for example, will pay less than £10 a month for broadband; whilst a standard 2 Mbps Bulldog link split between eight flats will cost from around £5 a month per household.
One of the first alternative DSL operators, Bulldog has a proven track record of driving the take-up of broadband connectivity by making it accessible and affordable. It is the first broadband provider in the UK to support a consumer Wi-Fi service and make broadband home networking simple and affordable for the mass market.
Were giving computer users across the country a simple way in to wireless home networking with a package thats easy-to-use, powerful and highly competitive, says Richard Greco, CEO of Bulldog Communications. Whilst some in the industry are frightened by shared access via Wi-Fi, we believe it has an essential part to play in making broadband Britain a reality for all.
The MyZones Wi-Fi service powered by Bulldog is exclusively available to new customers choosing connections between 1 Mbps and 6 Mbps, and taking up offer of a NETGEAR DM602 modem at just £19.99 ex VAT (£23.49).
The MyZones service is then available for a highly attractive, one-off price of £99.99 (inc. VAT) and provides Bulldog customers with a package that includes a NETGEAR ME103 ProSafe Wireless Access Point, a MA111 Wireless USB adapter and a years free access to three MyZones services:
HomeZone a secure home network that links Wi-Fi enabled devices, such as laptops, PCs, games consoles and stereos, allowing consumers to control them from a central point and seamlessly swap information between them (e.g. moving PC music onto your stereo)
SharedZone allows neighbours and flat mates to share the benefits (and costs) of broadband network connectivity
PublicZone enables consumers to open their Wi-Fi network to other MyZones users, creating a chain of free public access hotspots
For additional usage fees, customers will be able to access the Internet through GlobalZone, MyZones commercial Wi-Fi network of public access hotspots, which includes more than 1000 UK and 10,000 worldwide locations.
Wi-Fi broadband will revolutionise the number of people able to use and afford high-speed Internet access in the UK, says Clive Mayhew-Begg, Managing Director at MyZones. But thats not where its potential ends. Wi-Fi broadband can also provide a higher-performance and more reliable alternative to wireless data services offered via GPRS and 3G.
