In order to avoid being one of those types that only posts on forums to moan and complain (and i can assure you, I've done a lot of moaning and complaining regarding Pipex, who I have just left - complete joke of a company...) I thought it best to give some balance.

Spoke to O2 about 14 days ago with my dilemma with Pipex. Without even having an account with them, they gave me more tech advice about my line, than Pipex had given me in 3 weeks!

Anyway, got my Pipex MAC code, and issued it to 02 seven days ago. yesterday, bang on schedule, the broadband came on. No bother setting up my own router (I don't use the free box they kindly sent me) over the phone to tech support (and tech support are real people in the UK that you can actually talk to and actually help! Pipex idea of tech support was to put you through to an "agent" who took details and passed it on, but you never really got to speak to tech support)

The price is a bargain, the speed is fantastic, customer services and tech support are superb. What more can I say? Just hope they keep it up - so many ISP's have started well....

Title: A Farce
Previous suppuliers :
NDO (512k)
Pipex (2mb)
Freedom2Surf (8mb)

With NDO it was 512mb because that was the maximum at the time, Pipex was 2mb at the time, which I got.

When I moved I joined Freedom2Surf, being 400 metres from the exchange I got regular 6-7mb steady, no problems.

Moved to O2 when Freedom2Surf became part of Tiscali

Worst Move Ever

The package arrived with out the Ethernet Cable, the service didnt become available until 11pm that night (despite the text being sent at 9am saying I was on).

Immediately the speeds were down to 512k - 1mb, evening I tend to get hit and miss with a lot of pages on the internet timing out.

The technical help have, under no surprise continually blamed BT or a fault in my wiring or line.

I have complained to O2, for what no good it does as the Managing Directors emails just dont get answered.

Okay firstly a bit of background

--BEGIN BACKGROUND--
1) AOL dial-up (not my choice, would never go back)
2) Pipex 512KB Broadband (My first broadband, not bad, reliable service)
3) Nildram 2MB Broadband (Much better speed, much better service)

((Moved House))

4) BT 2MB Broadband (Not my choice, quite slow)
5) Tiscali 2MB-8MB Broadband (Cheap Broadband package, was never setup right, couldn't change anything, service desk very bad, would not recommend, would never go back)

((Moved House))

6) O2 up to 8MB (currently going through the setup)
--END BACKGROUND--

I have to say i went with O2 because my line only supports 2MB and i needed a cheap broadband provider, as i've got an O2 mobile contract it seemed like the right choice (currently only £7.50 if you have a O2 mobile number)

I have to say so far it is excellent!!

20/11/2008 - requested broadband be setup, provided mobile number and email address

recieved confirmation by both email and txt that the order was recieved and i could monitor the progress online

i thought, very funny i don't have the internet yet

they also email you updates and also txt them to you, every so often you are sms'ed updates, its great!!

then when they send your router out to you, you also get a txt from the delivery company saying when the item will be delived

i have to say so far they have been great

i will try and keep this updated

--UPDATE BEGIN--
24/11/2008
Just had my router delivered today, it arrived when o2 said that it would and also before work as well so that i didn't then have to go and pick it up from the deliverers

Just another quick note:

I sent O2 3 support emails on Friday 21st at 3PM, they replied all 3 in one hour!!!

Very impressed so far
--UPDATE END--

Been with Demon for sometime with hardly any problems.Demon said they could give me upto 8Meg I never ever even got 4Meg, customer service is asolute rubbish, all for a princely sum of £22.99I than read some reviews of o2's service, so I changed over.I went for o2's 16Meg service for £10 a month as I am a o2 customer already I get £5 off. Superb change over with o2 keeping me upto to date all the way through the process. It took roughly a week to change over and I lost broadband for one evening.I had to call customer service for some router settings as I wanted to use my own router, call was FREE fast and friendly and I was given eveything I needed to get my router online.Once I was online I checked my down and up speeds.Whoa 13Meg down and 1Meg up.All in all the best broadband package I have ever had. As somebody else has said, a complete no brainer.

Hi - i started using O2 about 5 months ago and all was great until i moved home to a new build.
As i moved into a more rural area i understood that my connection would not be as good as my previous metro location.
However, O2 Support assured me that all would be fine and i could get up to 8Mb, so expected that 3/4Mb would be ok, however they wanted to double my monthly charge!. I made the house move request and heard nothing, waited over 2 weeks, still nothing. Called then several times to be told that my postcode was not inthier system and they were waiting for the DB ASdmins to update it! Then they proceeded to reveal the truth , that i could maybe get 1Mb, but connection would be very flaky and they advised me NOT to use O2 adsl. I told themi wanted to cancel my contract, and they are forcing me to pay £50 to cancel - this is joke considering they cant provide with a decent service.

They are just as bad as BT. Avoid.

First support agent talked rubbish and patronised me for an hour. Other agents much better but after 2 weeks network staff said they couldn't fix it. After much chasing I found out it was the other end's fault and forced them to fix it, but I think really good support would have done the research and given me the ammunition.PRICE keeps me with O2. If you can afford £25pcm I'd recommend Zen - I'm wondering what other problems I will have to fix myself.posted on http://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/usercp.phpcopied to mailto:customer.service@o2broadband.co.uk

Im normally very hard to please in terms of an ISP but o2 has given me faith again. Communication at every stage was excellent, had need to use their tech support initially (didnt read the manual) and it was amazing. I simply cannot recommend o2 enough, brilliant in every respect.

Had to leave Virgin as I was moving house & they were updating their systems which meant they couldn't connect me for a couple of weeks.

O2 have been first class- texted me at every stage, free wireless modem etc. Everything on time & correct.

Used the tech services (freephone not 0845)  and they answered straight away, very polite & helpful. I'm currently running at 18mb/s although only paid for 8! They said this would settle down...

Thoroughly recommended!
