It's now June 2013. This time last year, I was with the ISP from hell, Orange (now part of EE - don't know if they're better now but this is my experience.)
After being almost randomly sent an email from Orange I was told I could expect faster speeds. Wrong. My line crawled to a halt, with disgustingly slow speeds. The package was cheap but 0.2mbps speeds are hardly anything like 20...
After a bit of hassle I moved to the Eden that is Xilo. Having been with them for 11 months now I can safely comment that I am very satisfied with the service I am getting.
On my fibre package it is a rarity for the speed to drop below 30mbps from the 40 I am paying for. I very regularly hit speeds of 38mbps with a very good low ping of around 8ms. Good if you are a gamer, I am not however.
Cons: Telephone customer service is not 24/7 like some of the big companies, but then again you're not on a premium phone rate in order to contact them like Orange was. They do offer 24/7 phone service on some packages though. You won't need it however as in the occasion that you do need customer support, their online system works perfectly, you don't get a scripted response, and responses are quick.
Cost: Yes, it is higher, quite a bit higher then the £4 a month I was paying, but I am here for quality and couldn't stand being fobbed off by ISPs any longer. You get what you pay for. And I certainly can't complain on that front. Quality and service have been brilliant and I never shy away from passing on compliments about Xilo to friends & family.
