DS2 Goes Green with New Energy Saving 200Mbps Powerline Tech

Posted: 02nd Jun, 2009 By: MarkJ
DS2, a global supplier of high-speed Powerline Communications technology for home networks, has developed the Aitana++ chipset. The new kit enables speeds of up to 200Mbps and also aims to help every household reduce its daily energy consumption. Powerline uses your homes plug sockets to convert hidden power cables into an Ethernet style local area network (LAN).

The new technology uses 30% less energy when in use and 70% less energy when on stand-by - without compromising on performance. It also reduces energy usage even further by powering down when idle - so you can leave things plugged in but they won't consume any energy.

Aitana++ is designed to be fully interoperable with previous generations of chipset, including the 100Mbps Montgo, as well as future 400Mbps technologies. It's understood that DS2 will be demonstrating the new hardware at Computex 09 - Booth 425, Nangang Hall, Taipei between now and 6th June.
