UK O2 Customers Suffer Mobile Internet Access Outage

Mobile operator O2 has left hundreds of thousands of its "Pay Monthly" customers, especially iPhone users, without Internet and MMS access after a problem with one of its related access points (APN) triggered a slew of connectivity issues. We have not seen any reports of O2 Mobile Broadband USB Modem users being affected, yet.
Some iPhone customers were able to resolve the problem by manually changing their APN server to mobile.o2.co.uk from idata.o2.co.uk, though O2 has since told users not to adjust their settings due to the different platforms and charges involved. Pay-as-you-go users are also known to be unaffected.
O2 claims that most of the problems have now been resolved, although some customers may still be experiencing issues, at least for a few more hours.
