Broadband.co.uk has released its latest anecdotal monthly broadband speed testing results for February 2010. It shows that the average UK download speed for the largest ten ISPs has leapt from just 4.275Mbps in January 2010 to 4.659Mbps now.
Cable giant Virgin Media remains top of the pack and even managed a significant extension to its lead, going from 7.651Mbps in January to a whopping 8.249Mbps now. The 2nd place holder O2 ( including Be Broadband ) also added a smidgen of extra speed but remained relatively stable on 5.204Mbps.

2. O2 ( Be Broadband ) – 5.204Mbps
3. Sky Broadband – 3.569Mbps
4. Orange – 3.484Mbps
5. TalkTalk ( Tiscali ) – 3.441Mbps
6. BT – 2.941Mbps
7. Eclipse Internet – 2.834Mbps
8. PlusNet – 2.671Mbps
9. AOL – 2.321Mbps

Top 10 ISPs for Upload Speed
1. O2 ( Be Broadband ) - 0.709Mbps
2. Virgin Media - 0.559Mbps
3. Sky Broadband - 0.464Mbps
4. TalkTalk ( Tiscali ) - 0.435Mbps
5. Orange - 0.426Mbps
6. BT - 0.363Mbps
7. Eclipse Internet - 0.362Mbps
8. PlusNet - 0.322Mbps
9. AOL - 0.321Mbps

We should point out that this month’s top 10 included both Tiscali and TalkTalk as separate entries and combined. However we have chosen to include only the combined result because Tiscali no longer exists as a separate UK trading entity in the ISP market.
ISP O2 ( Be Broadband ) once again remains the fastest UK provider for upload performance, though its average speed has remained fairly stable over January's result of 0.716Mbps. Likewise the overall average UK upload speed stood virtually unchanged at 0.463Mbps.
