ISPreview.co.uk has just updated, polished and re-written most of our
UK ISP Listings system to provide a better display of information and a more useful comparison of broadband (fixed line, satellite, mobile broadband etc.) and narrowband (dialup) internet providers.
In particular our fixed line broadband ISP listings now aim to display both the premium and cheapest (where available) package from each provider as a value benchmark. The detail pages for each ISP have also been totally re-designed to make them more relevant and cosmetically appealing.
As before ISPreview.co.uk cannot list every package for each ISP because we try to cover all consumer providers in the market, over 200 of them, and for a free website like ours it would be an almost impossible task to keep everything up to date. By contrast most commercial comparison websites list only the largest 6-10 providers.
Since 2008 we have been warning ISPs, particularly vISPs, that those who fail to publish a correct and legally required postal address on their website would not be listed (PO BOX addresses are not acceptable). With this update we have removed all bar two fixed line broadband vISPs that still need to correct this issue.
We have also attempted to remove any fixed line broadband ISP that does not reveal the pricing of its packages to the public. Likewise several providers that appear to have gone defunct and which have not updated their packages in many years have also been removed.
Presently we remain unhappy with the mobile broadband listings and are currently working on a completely different solution to handle that. In the meantime that section should be considered a placeholder.
