Broadband provider AOL UK, which is owned by the TalkTalk Group, has followed its parent to raise their monthly phone line rental prices from £11.25 to £11.99. A series of additional rises will follow on 1st October 2010.
AOL Broadband Price Changes -1st September
* AOL Broadband line rental £11.99 (currently £11.25) - This change should be made on all sites for 1st Sept as due to provisioning timelines customers will be charged the 1st Oct price.
AOL Broadband Price Changes - 1st October
* Continuous card payment for customers who pay with a card will incur a 99p monthly charge.
* Failed payment fee £10.00 (currently £7.50).
* Daytime rate calling hours will change to 7am-7pm and Evening 7pm-7am (currently 6pm – 6am)
* The cost of an 01, 02 and 03 daytime calls will be 6.4p (currently 5.8p)- this change doesn't affect any inclusive calls.
* Customers on Platinum 1 (Broadband, evening and weekend calls + line rental) will continue to receive inclusive calls to 0845 & 0870 numbers during Evening and Weekend rate calling hours. The cost of a Daytime call to these numbers will change to 6.4p per minute.
* Call connection fee 10.9p (currently 9.9p); this change doesn't affect any inclusive calls.
AOL, like TalkTalk before it, claims the higher pricing is a direct response to recent moves by BT Retail, which announced last month that the price of its UK landline rental would increase by 50p (pence) a month from October 2010 (
