Business ISP Easynet Connect has revealed that more than 1,000 UK businesses have signed up to its
SureStream broadband service, which offers symmetrical un-contended (1:1) upload and download speeds of 'up to' 8Mbps, within the first nine months of its launch.
SureStream Highlights
* Symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to 8Mb
* Dedicated and uncontended (1:1) service
* £399 per month, 12 month contract. Installation £795
* 99.9% SLA uptime, 30 day installation, 24hr clock fix-time, 95% First Time Fix
* UK based customer support centre
* 24/7 network monitoring and customer support
* Widest SDSL coverage in the UK (greater than BT)
SureStream used bonded SDSL lines to deliver its service, which is available to 70% of small businesses via 1,200 upgraded telephone exchanges around the country. Easynet claims that the product is 50% cheaper and offers a much shorter contract than equivalent services from competitors, specifically BT .
Josh Morse, Head of Products at Easynet Connect, comments:
"Small businesses are facing increased economic pressures to reduce their IT spend whilst increasing their connection capacity and bandwidth, which is why SureStream has proved such a success. By getting a leased line equivalent service with speeds up to 8Mb for around 50% of the price of BT, businesses can be sure they’re getting the best value for a quality internet connection. The fact that we have over a thousand customers using the service in nine months, making this our fastest ever selling package, proves just how successful the offering is."
Symmetric DSL (SDSL) is similar to
HDSL with a single twisted-pair line, carrying speeds of 'up to' 2Mbps (Europe) in each direction on a duplex line; the speed is the same in both directions. Typically bonding several telephone lines together is not cheap, hence the price tag. Many businesses see SDSL as a viable alternative to more expensive Leased Lines.
