Satellite operator Avanti has successfully launched its HYLAS 1 10Mbps capable broadband spacecraft into orbit (space) around the Earth. It will now undergo various testing procedures before being brought into full commercial service early next year.

BT Wholesale UK is cutting the minimum broadband download speed supported by its "super-fast" FTTC service from 15Mbps (Megabits per second) to just 5Mbps. The move is designed to increase the footprint served by FTTC and reach more homes.
