The UK communications regulator , Ofcom , confirmed yesterday afternoon that it had opened a new investigation into whether or not TalkTalk had
mis-sold its fixed line phone services or switched consumers lines without their consent.
TalkTalk's Statement (Reuters)"TalkTalk is fully cooperating with Ofcom and will continue to provide all the information it needs to conduct its investigation. We continually review our sales processes and take any potential issues of mis-selling extremely seriously."
It's understood that Ofcom began its investigation after it noticed a not insignificant number of consumer complaints about the ISPs behaviour. Customers who order the ISPs broadband service must also take their phone line service too as both operate off the same fully unbundled ( LLU ) network.
The move is only the latest blow for TalkTalk, which recently displayed lower than expected growth in its broadband subscriber base and was criticised after it breached telecoms rules by issuing bills for services that had not been provided (
