FibreSpeed UK, which operates a "
state-of-the-art optical fibre network" that is capable of delivering superfast broadband to various parts of
Northern Wales, has given the Welsh ISP
Carrier Wales an
Internet Service Provider of the Year 2010 award.
Carrier Wales, a trading division of
Integrated Digital Services Ltd, has been a
registered FibreSpeed partner since the project was first launched, more than two years ago. They have has also developed a range of products and services, such as remote desktop software applications for businesses, which make clever use of the same network.
The MD of Carrier Wales, John Prescott, said:
"On behalf of everyone at Carrier Wales I’m delighted to accept this award as it recognises our ongoing commitment to this exciting and innovative project.
We’ve been providing connectivity and other communications solutions using FibreSpeed as the core network since the project began, and it’s been very rewarding to see users in a rural part of the UK benefit from it."
Graham Leach, General Manager for FibreSpeed, added:
"Carrier Wales has earned this award for their ongoing commitment to the FibreSpeed network and their demonstrable efforts in the development of both application and connectivity based solutions that are benefitting businesses right across North Wales.
Carrier Wales has an impressive track record in winning business and excels at delivering a robust, wide and feature-rich portfolio of services. Without them, and all our Service Provider Partners, businesses and residents across the region would be denied access to modern Internet and communications technology so essential for today’s work and lifestyles."
FibreSpeed and its ISP partners are currently working to ensuring that North Wales has a head start in achieving the vision laid out in the
Welsh Assembly Government’s (WAG) Digital Wales agenda, and that it continues to lead from the front. WAG seeks to bring superfast broadband to all businesses by the middle of 2016 and households by 2020 ('
Digital Wales').
Certainly giving one of your own partners an award titled "
ISP of the Year" isn't going to do much for wider industry impartiality, but it doesn't mean to say that Carrier Wales hasn't done a very good job.
