Broadband.co.uk has released its latest anecdotal monthly consumer broadband ISP speed testing results for the past month of February 2011, which saw the
average UK internet download speed skyrocket from 5.691Mbps in January 2011 to
6.755Mbps now! Meanwhile the
average upload speed increased from 0.728Mbps to
0.788Mbps over the same period.
Cable operator Virgin Media UK once again dominates as the
fastest broadband ISP for download speeds, jumping from 11.193Mbps to a staggering 13.168Mbps within a single month. By contrast their upload speeds showed a more moderate gain, rising from 1.241Mbps to 1.361Mbps over the same period. Still, they remain unchallenged in both fields.

Once again Eclipse Internet managed to improve its download performance, while arch rival O2 UK weakened. However Eclipse did lose out a bit in the upload speed stakes, allowing BT to push them back into 4th position.
