Mobile operator Three (3) has launched a new
All-you-can-eat Mobile Broadband internet data top-up for its
Pay As You Go (PAYG) mobile phone services, which costs from at least £15 and includes 3000 SMS (text messages) and 300 voice call minutes.
Three is also running a competition over the coming month to show the value of the deal, with a range of prizes including a 30-day first class rail travel pass to Europe for two. Runner-up prizes include a smartphone along with all-you-can-eat data, free for a year, and a huge amount of free calls and texts each month will also be up for grabs.
Three’s Sales and Marketing Director, Marc Allera, said:
"We want to get people using their smartphones in the way they were designed to be used, and that means data. More importantly, we want people to feel comfortable doing this without worrying about the cost. That’s why the new offers include all-you-can-eat data along with a huge allowance of minutes and texts.
Three’s network was built for data, and it’s the confidence in the strength of our 3G network that means we can introduce deals like this."
However customers who joined Three (3) prior to September 2010 will need to
migrate onto the new tariff by calling 333 from their 3 phone or 0843 373 3333. The reason for this is because the new top-up's have a considerably shorter lifetime (expiry of 30 instead of 90 days).
For example,
All in One 15 costs £15 and gives
30-days access to all-you-can-eat data, along with 300 any-network minutes and 3000 texts. Otherwise
All in One 25 costs £25 and offers 500 minutes, 3000 texts and all-you-can-eat data for a 30-day period. This seems like a heavy package that's oddly being targeted at less prolific mobile users.
In recent months some operators, such as O2 UK, have done sharp u-turns on their old unsustainable data usage policies and begun imposing tighter restrictions. Going against the grain here is not without its risks, although it appears to be winning Three (3) some new customers.
