FibreSpeed UK, which operates a "
state-of-the-art optical fibre network" that can deliver superfast broadband to various parts of
Northern Wales, has once again teamed up with ISP
AB Internet to deploy a new
6Mbps capable wireless ( Wi-Fi ) network in
Ysceifiog,
Babell,
Lixwm and the surrounding areas.
Several successful wireless connections have already been established in
Treuddyn and
Graigfechan, with this latest development being seen as an extension to those. The effort includes many locations that reside in broadband "
not-spots"; areas with poor or no broadband connectivity at all.
Darren Road, AB Internet’s MD, explained:
"The Ysceifiog Project ticked every box. A small team of dedicated locals who have made it their business to bring broadband to the area, strong local demand backed by orders, and the support of a proactive local council, notably in the shape of Flintshire County Council’s Councillor Matt Wright. It all adds up to a really powerful formula."
Neil Tucker, Sales and Marketing Director for AB Internet, added:
"It’s hard to feel included in the digital revolution when it seems to be rushing past your door without stopping. So it’s rewarding to know that again, from school homework to video-calling the grandchildren, AB Internet will actually be making a difference to every aspect of the locals’ lives."
The platform has been designed to offer faster broadband speeds in the future and is certainly doing its best to move on from last year's overly harsh criticism of Fibrespeed by the UK government.
The
Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) slammed a proposal to extend the Fibrespeed project because the Welsh Assembly had "
not put much effort" into it and there were also other serious technical and competition concerns (
