Broadband.co.uk has released its latest anecdotal monthly consumer broadband ISP speed testing results for the past month of May 2011, which saw the
average UK internet download speed drop from 7.150Mbps a month ago to
6.970Mbps now. The
average upload speed also saw a minor decline from 0.872Mbps to
0.851Mbps over the same period.
Cable operator Virgin Media UK, despite experiencing a small loss of performance, still remains the
fastest overall broadband provider for both download (12.854Mbps) and upload (1.480Mbps) performance.

It's not been the best month for ISPs but at least Eclipse Internet (2nd place) managed to improve its download speed, rising from 6.564Mbps last month to 7.412Mbps now (upload performance also saw a slight boost). PlusNet will be similarly pleased to have made gains with its download performance.
