Consumer ISP PlusNet UK, which claims to offer "
broadband that won't be beat on price", has successfully managed to raise a highly respectable
£5,252 for
charity after getting its staff involved in a number of
fund-raising activities, from book sales, cake baking and fancy dress to quiz nights and more over the past 12 months.
The beautiful singer / actress
Roxanne Pallett, formerly one of the stars on ITV's
Emmerdale TV soap and last seen helping the ISP to launch a bunch of superfast broadband pigeons in April (
here), was on hand this week to help PlusNet award its hard won efforts to the
Alzheimer’s Society (the ISPs "
charity of choice for 2010-2011").
Roxanne Pallett said:
"It’s been fantastic to be involved with Plusnet this year and come to Ryefield Lodge this week to meet with some of the wonderful people who will benefit from the great work of the Alzheimer’s Society."
PlusNet's CEO, Jamie Ford, added:
"Our staff have really gone beyond the call of duty this year to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society. We have learnt a great deal about the work of the charity locally, both in Sheffield and around Yorkshire and are delighted to be handing over this money for them to continue their great work."
The event itself took place at
Ryefield Lodge (
Chapeltown). Ryefield Lodge supports younger people (under the age of 65) who are affected by
dementia and is just one of the local services that will benefit from the money. Congratulations to all involved.
Separately Plusnet is also giving
50 existing customers the chance to win a pair of tickets each for a
2011 Rugby League Four Nations game of their choice. To be in with a chance all they need to do is answer the following question:
