BeyonDSL, a
SES ASTRA (
ASTRA2Connect) based UK provider of Satellite broadband ISP services to homes and businesses, has finally launched their new range of 'up to'
10Mbps capable packages (priced from just £24.99 per month). All UK Satellite services have 100% coverage, unless you live behind a very high hill or mountain that blocks the eastern skies.
The new services were first revealed during May 2011 (
here) and make good use of SES's
ASTRA 1N spacecraft, which resides at the orbital position of
28.2 Degrees East. BeyonDSL's existing services, which tend to come from a satellite at
23.5 Degrees East, have also been enhanced to support the new speed.

It's important to point out that BeyonDSL offers a number of features and enhancements that customers might find attractive, especially in comparison to similar offers from
HYLAS1 (Avanti) and
KA-SAT (Eutelsat) based ISPs.
Firstly, BeyonDSL's Astra Satellite service can be combined with
SkyTV or
Freesat on the same dish (old satellite, the newer ones require a second dish). Secondly, customers whom consume their usage allowance can continue to access the service through an "
unlimited follow-on" at
256Kbps (some rivals throttle down to just 64Kbps!).
The ValuePlus packages also offer a
FreeZone add-on for £12.50 extra, which provides
unlimited overnight data (between 22:00 and 06:00 hours). That's a better deal than having to pay £15 for every extra 1GB of usage.
Prices for BeyonDSL's service also start at just £14.99 per month for a 2Mbps (2GB usage) package. Sadly customers will still need to fork out £299.99 for the hardware, £89 for an installation and then there's the £50 activation fee. Still, so far as Satellite services go, BeyonDSL offers quite a lot.
