Namesco, a UK broadband and webhosting ISP, has been hit by hackers that stole some of their customers personal information and credit card details. To make matters worse the hosting giant then made its own security notice look like a fake phishing email.

UK ISP Andrews & Arnold ( AAISP ) has revealed that trials of BT's latest 'up to' 80Mbps fttc technology have been able to deliver internet download speeds of between 57Mbps and 79.7Mbps to existing customers.

The UK Labour Party's Shadow Minister for Media, Helen Goodman MP, has slammed the government's delay in getting its auction of superfast 4g (LTE) Mobile Broadband spectrum off the ground. Goodman believes that the delay could be costing up to GBP1 million a day in lost revenue.

Caroline Lucas MP, leader of the UK Green Party, has called for the government to include Brighton in its plan to help fund faster broadband services in up to 10 "super-connected cities". At present the city falls just below the government's threshold of 150,000 dwellings.

Ofcom has today launched its final consultation on the auction of future superfast 4g Mobile Broadband spectrum in the 800MHz and 2.6GHz bands. The new consultation proposes to extend the UK coverage of related services from 95% to 98% of the country and puts forward several measures to prevent any one operator from holding too much spectrum.

Cable (DOCSIS) operator Virgin Media has today moved to combat BT in the United Kingdom (UK) by doubling all of its broadband internet access speeds, with the maximum package now offering a download rate of 120Mbps (Megabits per second).
