Allpay Broadband, a wireless ISP (
Wi-Fi ) that specialises in deploying superfast broadband services into rural areas by placing the necessary kit on top of
local churches, has confirmed that it plans to "
make 2012 the year a difference is made to Herefordshire’s internet problems" through their continued expansion of urban and rural coverage.
As part of this commitment the ISP has announced that all new customers who install their service during January 2012 will now receive a
free router (only valid for those who install before 10/02/2012). Superfast internet download speeds of between 2Mbps to 35Mbps are available to those who subscribe; prices start at just £15 per month.
Lisa Howell, Allpay's Broadband Manager, said:
"We believe we can tackle digital exclusion in the county head on. Everyone should be able to use a fast and reliable broadband service, improving people’s lives and supporting local businesses. allpay Broadband is geared up for an exciting year and is committed to making a difference in 2012."
The ISP saw strong growth last year and ended 2011 on a high note by managing to get its antennae installed at the top of
Hereford Cathedral, a major feat that put almost the entire population of
Hereford town (a cathedral city) within its reach. A second prominent city church,
St Peter's, could soon follow.
