Wholesale provider Entanet, which supplies broadband services to a number of ISPs in the UK, has announced that its partners can now offer a free installation (saving £80 +vat) with their superfast broadband (FTTC) packages and they’re also offering discounts worth up to 50% off the monthly service charges.
The promotion, which will run from 28th January 2013 to 31st March 2013, will apparently be available on all packages that carry a 24 month contract and is also open to all FTTC migrations from unbundled (LLU) based ISPs.
Paul Heritage-Redpath, Entanets Product Manager, told ISPreview.co.uk:
“The broadband market is now keenly focussed on fibre and this latest promotion will ensure our channel partners gain a competitive edge in what is a price-sensitive arena. We expect BT Wholesale to raise its FTTC installation charges from 1st April, so this offer could not be more timely.”
Entanet also intends to provide its partners with a report that identifies all customers on their platform who could potentially upgrade to faster services such as FTTC (i.e. consumers on Entanet vISPs should probably expect a few promotional mails).
We note that at least one of Entanet’s vISPs, Vivaciti, has already announced plans to offer free activation on their up to 80Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) services.
Good to see competition amongst wholesalers as well as retailers, rather undermines some of the more inane comments from TalkTalk’s CEO yesterday.
In fairness TalkTalk were talking more about competition at the infrastructure level and this is competition through the surface level, which is ultimately still restricted by BT’s product set and the ISPs ability to subsidise at its own risk. A 24 month contract would not entice everybody.
Translation: good to see others prepared to subsidise BT in a largely pointless attempt to gain market share before it’s all gone.
24 months contract ? I don’t see anyone willing to sign up! Enta fail once again !
Even Zen’s free activation is a 24 month contract, most of BT’s are 24 months so hardly a fail. What does need dealing with is a way to move home without having to start a new contract. BT openreach really do need to sort out a house move migration if customer stays with the same ISP..
Fully agree on that. Yes, charge the user a installation for the work required but allow the term to continue – after all, they’re still paying for the service for the full term.
lol 24 month contract Theres The Catch They Must Be Joking NO WAY They Will Barely Get Anyone To Sign Up For There ContracT Well Say the least They Lose Again LOL
Have you asked any of their resellers about this “upto” 505 off the normal monthly subs price ? Enta are giving very little unless you are willing to pay over £60 per month. so it’s just a publicity stunt and no more really,
