RootMetrics Say EE and Three UK are Best for Mobile Internet in Newcastle

The latest RootMetrics study of mobile network performance in Newcastle (North East England) has named EE and Three UK as the best two networks for Mobile Broadband speeds, with both also scoring well for text message and call performance. But once again Vodafone was the worst.

As before the study conducted more than 28,000 “mobile performance tests” (considerably fewer than the 83k conducted for London) to see how each of the country’s four major Mobile Network Operators (MNO) faired. Both 3G and 4G services were tested but obviously EE has the advantage of being the first to market with a national 4G platform (the others have yet to follow).

Three UK came top for overall Network Reliability with a score of 98.3 out of 100, while EE followed on 97, O2 put in a good showing with 94 and finally Vodafone had the lowest score of 90.2. But the results for average mobile broadband speeds showed just what a difference 4G can make.

Elsewhere the study also looked at voice call and text message performance. Nearly all operators did well in both categories, except Vodafone that once again secured a significantly lower score than its rivals for call performance.
