Network benchmarking giant Ookla, which collects data from consumers via their popular broadband and mobile Speedtest.net service, has named mobile operator Three UK as the United Kingdom’s Top-Rated Speedtest Awards winner during Q3-Q4 2025.
Ookla’s Top-Rated Awards typically use their sampled data set of Speedtest 5-Star Ratings to extrapolate and make inferences about consumer sentiment amongst the broader population of consumers. “To evaluate Top-Rated Awards we compare mean ratings using a modified Hsu’s Multiple Comparisons with Best (MCB) procedure“, which in plain English means they evaluate whether a “best” group can be identified from many groups, based upon sampled data sets.
The result is that the mean (average) of all the user rating samples for mobile operator Three UK (VodafoneThree) resulted in a score of 3.2 out of 5. By comparison O2 (Virgin Media) came last with a score of just 2.7 out of 5. But sadly they don’t provide any further details.
