French telecoms giant Orange has teamed up with Ericsson to demonstrate a “live field trial” of future 5G based Mobile Broadband technology, which was able to deliver data speeds beyond 10Gbps (Gigabits per second). But the details remain frustratingly sparse.

Mobile operator Vodafone has today enabled the first community hub to receive an indoor 3G signal boost via their new Community Indoor Sure Signal (CISS) programme, which eventually hopes to improve the indoor mobile signals for 100 rural community hubs across the United Kingdom.

A report from the Public Accounts Committee has warned that EE’s new 4G based UK Emergency Services Network (ESN) “seems unlikely” to meet its target date for delivery and the Government has allegedly failed to budget for such an outcome or put in place a detailed contingency plan.

The cost of deploying ultrafast Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH/P) broadband networks throughout the EU, which currently still includes the United Kingdom, has today been revised by Comsof on behalf of the FTTH Council Europe and the new estimate is £134 billion (€156bn).

Last week news broke that Sky Broadband intended to raise the monthly price of Phone Line Rental from 1st March 2017 (it’s currently £17.40), although the ISP refused to say by how much. Today we’ve had it confirmed that the price will rise by 9.14% to £18.99 per month.
