South Yorkshire-based UK ISP Origin Broadband has announced an investment of £2.5m into opening a new premises (53,665 sq. ft) at Callflex Business Park in Rotherham, which could in theory cope with 700 people and help the ISP to reach their target of 250,000 customers by 2020.

Shropshire-based ISP Aquiss has today introduced two new Managed Business Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) “full fibre” broadband products, which offer top speeds of up to 500Mbps and 1Gbps (symmetrical) for businesses in 14 towns and cities across the United Kingdom.

Sky Broadband has today moved to discount the monthly prices of their broadband and phone bundles for new customers. On top of that they’re also offering the option of either taking those packages with a £50 Prepaid MasterCard or a Samsung Galaxy Tab E (sells for around £130 at retail) computer.

Mobile operator O2 will tomorrow cut the charges on their Classic Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) SIM from 5p a min calls, 5p a text and 5p per Megabyte of data (Mobile Broadband) to just 3p a min for calls, 2p a text and 1p per MB, which matches Three UK’s allegedly “unbeatable” pricing.

Derry-based fixed wireless ISP Beacon Broadband has been offered £48,000 by Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI) to help fuel the creation of 12 new jobs, which will support the expansion of their network in Northern Ireland via additional engineers, support staff and management roles.
