Uswitch.com has today revealed the winners of their annual 2024 Telecoms Awards event, which among things saw UK ISP Plusnet being named as the best ‘Broadband Provider of the Year’, while CommunityFibre won the best alternative network and Tesco Mobile scooped the win for best mobile ‘Network of the Year’.
The comparison site selected its winners via a combination of methods. Most of the awards were decided based on a survey of 24,000 UK consumers (conducted between 22nd November to 7th December 2023), while several other categories were chosen by a panel of 16 “expert” judges from the fields of consumer affairs, personal finance and technology.
Finally, the ‘Fastest Mobile Network‘ award was based on an analysis of crowdsourced performance data from Opensignal (i.e. mobile broadband upload and download speeds).

How on Earth Plusnet was best? For switching away from them?
Tesco was best network? Tesco has terrible coverage in my area while an O2 sim works fine??
Tesco doesn’t get the full spectrum, speed or priority on the O2 network (Giffgaff don’t either) which probably explains your service. Sky Mobile does, I guess the virtual networks get what they pay for with O2.
Best network *for customer service*.
Funny thing is, I’ve just switched away from Giffgaff to ASDA Mobile (O2 to Vodafone) and earlier today so thing connect on Edge lol.
Had to think long and hard to remember how old Edge was. Turns out my phone should only ever connect to it if my signal was “abysmal” or worse.
Fortunately, the mobile signal in my home is absolutely irrelevant to my own usage, but wow, I went from really bad but the occasional 4G service to no signal or Edge.
My reason for swapping was WiFi Calling on the SIM.
Three didn’t get a mention but then there wasn’t a category for “stupidity”
Lebera mobile the most popular network, and iD and giffgaff best for data?
Yeah okay…
And Best Telecoms Innovation is some stupid customer platform that no customer is going to notice (EE still has one of the slowest, worst, buggiest sites out of all 4) and not SA 5G trials or something?
This might just be the dumbest mobile comparison I have ever seen
