Scottish Government Enterprise minister, Jim Mather, has announced a £3.5m open procurement process to find providers able to deliver broadband services to Scotlands remotest rural areas:
"In this 21st century, broadband is an increasingly vital tool for business and is now used by more and more households as a standard utility. By extending the availability of affordable broadband, we can help create a wealthier and fairer Scotland."
Residents and businesses that currently fall outside of existing coverage are being asked to
INFORM the Scottish Government by the end of 2007. The work to install new connectivity would thus be able to start sometime next year.
