UK ISP
Pipex has issued a couple of interesting press releases this afternoon, one touting six months free broadband ADSL access, while the other references its
WiMAX expansion plans.
The providers second commercial trial of broadband
WiMAX technology now looks set to go live in Warwick during the European Cup Race Walking Championships:
As the UKs first wireless solutions provider to launch
WiMAX services,
Pipex Wireless will initially deliver services to Warwick District Council and subsequently approach businesses and home-users in the Warwick trial area over the next six months.
"
We are delighted to be providing our WiMAX services in Warwick. Following the early success of trials in Milton Keynes, we are excited about being able to offer high speed wireless broadband to other forward-thinking towns and cities," comments Mike Read, CEO,
Pipex Wireless. "
The event in Warwick provides the ideal setting for launching our wireless services in the area. As we develop the service further, well be inviting local businesses and home users to take part in the trial to make wireless broadband a reality."
Pipex will be demonstrating its
WiMAX powered Internet access with laptop manufacturer, rock, during the event. The provider is also offering six months free broadband to customers that sign-up with its broadband and Anytime calls package:
The deal is available for one month only and comprises a broadband package that includes free connection, free anti-virus and firewall protection and a 2GB monthly usage allowance enough for sending and receiving emails, browsing, online shopping and downloading several hundred music tracks.
The Anytime calls package allows the user to keep their existing telephone number and make an unlimited number of telephone calls at any time of day to local and national numbers. Customers will also save 25 per cent on calls to mobiles based on BTs standard rate, and can call abroad from just 2p per minute at any time.
The special offer is available for one month from 17 May 2007 and is subject to an 18-month contract. BT line required. For full terms and conditions, please visit
Pipex or call free on 0800 056 6234.
Much as with other "FREE" bundled broadband promotions there's still a charge, in this case £12.50 per month for the first six months, rising to £19 thereafter. Not bad though.
