Italian newspaper '
Il Sole 24 Ore' reports that BT is still considering (
earlier news) making a play for Tiscali, but not by itself. The operator is allegedly seeking to join forces with 'Wind', an Italian telecommunications group:
According to the daily, Merrill Lynch's head for Italy, Maurizio Tamagnini, met over the weekend with Wind's financial director Luigi Gubitosi to discuss Tiscali.
Merrill Lynch is already working for BT, which is interested in Tiscali's UK business, it said. If a deal is struck, Wind could take over Tiscali's Italian business, it added.
The ABCMoney.co.uk summary doesn't go into much detail and isn't the first Tiscali sale piece we've seen, to say the least. Still, BT's interest appears to be more than passive.
