HomeChoice Tops 15,000 Customers

Posted: 27th Jan, 2005 By: MarkJ
ISP and Video-on-Demand provider, HomeChoice (Video Networks), has reported having 15,000 users. They also confirmed plans to expand (double) their coverage to 2.4 million homes by June 2005:

VNL has today announced plans to double the size of its Phase 1 footprint from 1.2 million to 2.4 million homes. The first new homes will come online in March 2005, with the remainder being passed by June 2005.

VNL initially made inroads into launching its phase 2 footprint in December 2004 when it enabled five new exchanges – including Stevenage its first exchange outside of the M25.

The company’s major marketing push for the relaunched HomeChoice service began in September 2004. During Q4 of 2004, VNL was responsible for one in five new DSL net additions in its initial launch footprint of 1.2 million homes. Since launching its telephone service in November 2004, 85% of all new subscribers have chosen HomeChoice to provide all three services – digital TV, broadband Internet and phone calls. HomeChoice now has 15,000 subscribers.

Roger Lynch, Chairman and CEO VNL Ltd said: “We are very pleased with the initial take up of the HomeChoice service. The concept of broadband delivered TV and video-on-demand is very new to the entertainment buying public and to already have 20% market share of new DSL subscribers in our coverage area so soon after our launch is a great achievement. This gives us the confidence to significantly expand our network.

Since launch, we have continued to build on what we offer our subscribers. In August of this year, HomeChoice signed a retail deal with BSkyB enabling our subscribers to watch Sky Sports and selected Sky Movies channels on the service. We have added telephony to our offering, which has been a great success, and we are about to launch a music download service that will allow HomeChoice customers to buy downloadable music tracks as they appear on screen. Couple all of these new products with HomeChoice’s ever expanding film, music and television on-demand selection and our offering is truly compelling.

2005 promises to be even more exciting for the company. Today’s announcement of the doubling of our footprint means HomeChoice will be available to over 2.4 million London homes by June 2005.
