Claranet has announced a successful connection to the Hibernia Atlantics high performance cable network, which crosses the North Atlantic between London and New York City:

The investment has seen the introduction of £2.3 million worth of the latest Gigabit (Gb) switch router (GSR) technology - the Cisco GSR XR. This router technology is heavily deployed in the United States and has been proven in Claranet's laboratory tests. Claranet is one of the UK's earliest adopters of this technology in a core network.

Over the past few years the ISP has done little to keep up with the consumer market and fallen behind, having once been among the best and most competitive providers.
