Avanti Preps Satellite Broadband Solution for Northern Ireland

The Avanti Communications Group, a UK satellite operator, has signed a new contract worth £1.1m with the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment (DETI) for supply of remote broadband services in Northern Ireland:
The deal will also bring in annual revenue of £450,000 from customer subscriptions. Avanti will deploy services immediately using its rented capacity and migrate customers on to its new satellite, Hylas, upon launch.

Avanti's success in competitive tendering shows that it has very limited competition in rural satellite broadband.
