Customers experiencing slow speeds on
Be Broadband's (
O2) network during mid-week will be pleased to know that the issue isn't the fault of their ISP. Reports indicated that the problem was caused by workmen, whom accidentally sliced through a major fibre optic cable in London's Docklands (Yeo Street) on Wednesday.
The Register notes that tier one provider Global Crossing owns the link, which directly impacted
Be Broadband's network and caused all traffic to be routed over a slower backup connection. Business provider Connexions4London (C4L) was also impacted by the problems (
status report).
Happily the situation was finally resolved during yesterday afternoon and broadband speeds should now be working their way back to normality.
