The
Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) has revealed that sales of 3.5G (HSPA) enabled hardware, such as handsets, PC data cards (PCMCIA) and USB Modems, have grown by 150% over the past 12 months.
The survey also confirms that there are 637 HSPA-enabled devices on the market by 110 suppliers. It's not just laptops and USB Modems though - notebooks, wireless routers, Personal Media Players and even a digital camera have had HSPA technology installed.
Mobile Broadband services are clearly in the early stages of a huge growth spurt, thanks in no small part to a significant raft of price cuts that occurred during 2007. Some further refinements to service flexibility, price and included extras would make the technology highly competitive with land-line alternatives.
