UK ISP
Fast4 has today announced the introduction of their under £10 broadband package, which offers speeds of 'up to' 8Mbps, a 1GB usage cap, monthly contract, free modem, static IP and anti-virus protection for £9.98 inc. vat per month.
The announcement appears to form part of a general package revamp, which has seen its much criticised and trouble causing "
unlimited" offer consigned to the waste bin of history:
For customers new to broadband we will give them a Free USB modem to get them started and for anyone paying more elsewhere that want to move to Fast4 we will give you a free month just so you can try our new and improved service.
Our new packages have no contract at all, so customers can join and leave at there wish. There are no exit fees and no hidden extra charging at all.
Steve Kaye, of Fast4 said "We are very pleased to be offering these kinds of broadband packages, over the last year we know that our service has not been the best it could have been. However we are now with new suppliers and their network and professionalism is second to none.
I would like to also take this opportunity to apologise to my customers who have had to experience some of the long lasting issues we have had and promise that these are now over and we shall only be looking forward to a better future."
The new packages are considerably different to Fast4's previous offer and currently only apply to new customers. However the ISP has reported that existing users are being moved to the new platform (
forum post), although the original package will remain in place, at least for a little while. Enforced moves that result in a major package change rarely receive a warm welcome, but only time will tell for sure.
