BT's commercial I.T support service, the imaginatively titled BT Home IT Support, has clocked up 10 million minutes worth of advice to customers since its launch just a year and a half ago. Requests for help about wireless broadband connections have dominated the service:
BTs tireless team of Home IT Support advisors has spent more than 166,000 hours on the phone helping to solve the nations IT issues with calls now averaging more than 1,400 hours every week.
Customers have kept the service busy with more than 33,000 requests for help with increasingly popular wireless broadband connections, over 22,000 calls about computer viruses and spyware and 16,000 calls in relation to email.
BT Home IT Support advisors provide straight forward, jargon free, advice and support over the phone for a wide range of computer issues - from a new wireless connection to coaching customers on how to safely store digital valuables such as photos and videos.
With a 95 per cent customer satisfaction rate, advisors can also fix problems by accessing your computer remotely through your broadband connection regardless of who you get your broadband from.
For customers who prefer a home visit, BT has more than 800 expertly trained computer engineers across the UK who can visit customer homes. BTs engineers can help with all sorts of queries, including broadband installations for BT customers, setting up wireless broadband and helping with software and upgrades. The service has proven extremely popular with more than 100,000 homes visited.
BT has clearly been pleased with the progress of its support service and plans to invest a further £45 million over the next five years.
