Have you come up with an innovative use for your broadband connection? If so then it may be worth entering into the '
Broadband Britain Challenge':
Pressure is On For The Broadband Britain Challenge Championship Contenders
As the final entry date looms, Broadband Britain Challenge contenders across the country are waiting with baited breath to see if they will make the first cut to become a Broadband Britain Challenge Champion finalist.
Are any of these contenders set to become the Ultimate Broadband Britain Challenge Champion?
Some of the more colourful Broadband Britain Challenge entries include:
Patrick Lidstone, from London, has used broadband to create an Automatic Home. He can log on via any web browser and set his video to record a favourite program and remotely look round his home using webcams when his computer notifies him that that the security alarm has been triggered or a doorbell has been rung. Patricks home can even automatically adjust the heating system after checking the weather forecast.
Craig Hamilton-Parker, from Hampshire, has built a website that takes advantage of Broadbands fast technology. www.psychics.co.uk features media files about clairvoyance, phenomena sound files and detailed ghost picture files. Broadband has also allowed Craig to easily send out his Psychic Ezine and conduct online psychic classes.
Roger Perkins, from Oxfordshire, has built a website showcasing a piece of artwork that will melt over a three-month period (www.rogerperkkins.com). Broadbands fast always-on connection has allowed Rogers site visitors to interact with the artwork and see live pictures of its progress.
The Broadband Britain Challenge has been created to recognise and celebrate people who have bettered their lives or the lives of others by using ADSL broadband. Ordinary British people who are doing extraordinary things with broadband have been entering the competition with the hope to become the Ultimate Broadband Britain Challenge Champion and become an inspiration to the rest of the nation.
Would be Champions have entered themselves or their place of work in one of seven different categories: education, voluntary, youth, businesses, public sector, large corporations and home users. Judges including representatives from the Judge Institute of Management Studies, University of Cambridge, have been sifting through the entries and have been encouraged by the results.
"There are some real pioneers out there," says Philippa Winterburn, head of broadband marketing, BT Wholesale. "It is wonderful to see people embrace a new technology and use it to its full capacity."
All will be revealed at an exclusive VIP ceremony in London on Friday 12 September where the announced Champions will receive their victory trophies.
