Kids set to study in the virtual classroom
New research from Telewest Broadband has revealed that 90% of online parents believe the internet is important to their child's education.
The research, conducted by NOP World* with 1,000 online users, also found that almost half feel it is important for their ISP to help them get the most from the web's virtual classroom, by providing educational tools such as online tutorials, content, guides, reviews and links.
The findings mark the launch of a new education channel on the cable company's blueyonder.co.uk website, focusing on helping kids with their homework and revision.
The blueyonder learning zone offers advice on exams and homework, with school bag tools and applications, such as an online dictionary, encyclopaedia and calculator. There are also eight new online guides, called blutorials, focusing on topics such as revising and exam techniques.
Chad Raube, director of internet at Telewest Broadband, said: "The new learning zone aims to create a positive environment where both children and parents can discover the many educational tools and applications on offer via the web.
"It's time to streamline the school bag and ditch the dusty text books, because we're giving homework a 21st century makeover."
