Virgin.net has signed a new promotion deal with supermarket chain Safeway. Typically this will see registration CDs for the ISPs dialup and broadband services stocked in stores around the country:
The UK ISP said the CDs will be sited at all points of sales across the 479 UK store network and will be free to shoppers.
Peter Tuomey, sales and marketing director at Virgin.net, said: "Home internet access is now truly mass market with over half of all UK households connected to the net.
A further one and a half million new households are expected to come online this year and almost a further two million homes are expected to switch from their current ISP during 2004."We can only hope that Virgin isn't rushing into a mass marketing push; they've only just re-opened the broadband service following problems.
