Heathrow airport has finally introduced broadband wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) Hotspot Internet access into its first terminal:
Intel teamed up with a host of British firms, including BT and airports operator BAA, to launch the hot spot in Heathrow's Terminal One. The companies have also set up similar systems at London's Gatwick and Stansted airports, and the Aberdeen airport. Intel said the technology was also launched at Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris last week, while Frankfurt Airport would go live next month.
The Wi-Fi service, which promises broadband connection speeds, commands a price in the UK and Europe aimed at the business professional. BT, for example, charges £6 per hour, or £85 per month. It may still be a bit expensive for most people, although business travellers should find it useful and things like this have a habit of getting cheaper.
