Tiscali's UK ISP wing has teamed up with Band-X, the bandwidth exchange, to connect as suppliers for the Band-X IP Transit:

Tiscali International Network connects to the Band-X IP Transit Exchange

Band-X, the bandwidth exchange, today announced that Tiscali International Network is the latest IP backbone to join the growing portfolio of world leading IP (internet protocol) backbones connected as suppliers to the Band-X IP Transit Exchange.

Tiscali International Network, a subsidiary of Tiscali S.p.A, is focused on delivering leading-edge Clear Channel and IP-based turnkey solutions to carriers, xSPs and multinational corporations including all Tiscali's pan-European activities. It joins leading service providers connected to the Band-X IP Transit Exchange including France Telecom, Globix, Level 3, NTT Europe, Reach, Sprint and Telia. The Band-X IP Transit Exchange takes the guesswork out of finding quality IP transit by providing buyers with independently monitored quality metrics on all suppliers along with the benefit of the wholesale pricing they are offering through Band-X. In addition, the ability to change seamlessly from one supplier to another gives buyers maximum flexibility.

"Tiscali International Network's connection to our IP transit exchange provides access to a leading Internet backbone particularly strong to the European region for our wholesale buyers," said Stephen Beynon, Band-X chief executive officer. "Its inclusion enhances the impressive range of complementary providers available on our exchange, bringing yet more choice and price to our customers connected in London and Edinburgh."

"We are particularly delighted with this deal with Band-X as it is extremely consistent with our primary aim to be able to offer Internet connection all over Europe," said Paolo Sunsik, CEO Tiscali International Network and CTO Tiscali Corporate.

Tiscali International Network has connected its network to the exchange using Gigabit Ethernet with one gigabit per second (Gbps) of capacity available. This brings the total amount of capacity available via the exchange to over 15 Gbps.

Tiscali International Network is one of the largest and fastest-growing Internet network companies in Europe, with the largest geographical footprint of any European Internet provider. Tiscali International Network has its own state of the art optical network offering more than 12,000 km of long distance fibre backbone throughout Europe. This network interconnects with all the Tiscali national networks giving the company total control over connection quality and enabling it to keep peering costs at a minimum. The total national and international networks span over 45,000 km across Europe. Tiscali International Network establishes itself as a major independent European player in IP connectivity and as a reference bandwidth producer.
