Plusnet Confirms Home 1Mbps Success

Posted: 28th Oct, 2003 By: MarkJ
UK ISP Plusnet has become the latest provider to confirm the success of its 1Mbps broadband ADSL trial for home users. Once officially launched the new package will be included into Plusnet's existing product line:

1Mb Home Broadband a clear success say PlusNet

PlusNet today welcomed the news that BT Wholesale has committed to fully launching 1Mbps Home ADSL service. PlusNet's ADSL Home 1Mb, priced at just £32.99 a month inc VAT, and as such one of the lowest priced high-bandwidth products on the market, is now confirmed as a core product in PlusNet's Home Broadband range.

The statement from BT Wholesale last week, that their 1Mbps Home service will be officially launched on 20th November, came as welcome but not unexpected news to PlusNet, who have seen tremendous customer take-up of the hitherto trial service.

"We had anticipated strong demand for this higher bandwidth, faster 1Mb Broadband service prior to our launching trial service on October 6th", said Marco Potesta, Commercial Director at PlusNet. "PlusNet ADSL Home 1Mb, at the market beating price of £32.99 a month inc VAT, has proven to be a massive hit with both new and existing customers. We have no doubt that our success has been a significant influence on BT's decision to move the trial to a full launch more quickly than they had originally expected."

1Mbps download speeds are proving to be ever more popular with the home user, being ideally suited for Web sites offering rich multimedia content such as BBCi. Network gaming across the Internet is also a huge phenomenon, with PlusNet offering support for second-generation consoles, such as the Sony PlayStation2, as well as PC's.

Increasingly, the home is seeing more than one person connecting to the Internet at the same time, using Ethernet or wireless networking. 1Mbps ADSL is the perfect answer for the 'net-connected family, with bandwidth to cope with the demands placed upon it, whilst still allowing the phone to be available for voice calls.

As well as offering multimedia content through BBCi and Internet gaming, a wealth of added-value services are included, such as unlimited email addresses, website hosting and local-rate dial access backup provided as standard. With friendly and helpful support available 24 hours a day at local call rate; it's no wonder that more and more people every day are choosing PlusNet Broadband.
